Welcome to the York County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Website!
Between spring 2009 and summer 2010, York County will be developing a new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). This website will serve as the County`s communications center for up to date information on the process, including background information, important documents, meeting dates and times, surveys, and contact information.
What is a Unified Development Ordinance and why does York County need one? The County`s current zoning and land development ordinances are out of date and do not fully address the threats to quality of life arising from the County`s rapid growth. To address these issues, York County is creating a new Unified Development Ordinance (a document that combines the County`s subdivision regulations, development regulations, and zoning code into one local law). The newly formed UDO will be a forward-thinking, innovative, and streamlined set of ordinances that will set higher standards for quality development and design, efficient code administration, environmental protection, and standards for construction of public facilities.
The new UDO is being coordinated with the County`s Comprehensive Plan Update and will be a key implementation tool for achieving the vision and character established in the Plan Update.
Please see UDO Basics for more background information. |
